Boots are a must have for this cold season and really, always have been.  But I recently realized they are much more popular than I thought. I was in San Francisco this past weekend and boy was it cold!  I am from Los Angeles where it has been 100 degrees and higher recently, so when I walked around the bay area I noticed clothes that I have not been seeing at home.  One of the items I constantly saw on every street I walked down were boots.  Almost every woman was wearing them!  I didn’t have any boots with me, but I was craving them!  So, I went into almost every shoe store I could find to search for boots, boots and more boots.  There were so many to choose from that I just needed to share these great styles that you may want to check out for yourself.

Knee High Boots

Everyone wears these and everyone knows about wearing them over or under your jeans.

This is going to be your most traditional type of boot as well as the most versatile.  They are perfect for your everyday keep-your-legs-warm ensembles.  So, grab ‘em when you just need to stay warm, with leggings that show all your curves or when you want to look sexy in your new skinny jeans.

Thigh High’s

These are great with shorts and short skirts if you’ve got fantastic legs.  Now of course you can wear them with your bare skin for a super sexy look, but they also go great with fashion tights of all kinds.  Have fun!  I am also a fan of thigh high boots over leggings and a tunic top or big comfy sweater.  But please avoid wearing thigh high boots that are patent leather or latex looking – it just comes across trashy.

Ankle Boots or Booties

These little guys come in several different styles from just covering the foot to just above the ankle. Of course you can wear them with pants where you don’t really see the tops of the boot, or slightly rolled jeans to show the boots and a few inches of your smooth legs.  I think they are best worn with tights and a skirt or shorts.  But again, wearing these booties with bare legs can do too!  But I don’t think the Fall or winter would be the best time.  I also do not recommend wearing ankle boots with long skirts past the knee or you’ll just look frumpy and matronly.  Not very fashionable!

Harness Boots

Now these are not quite cowboy boots, but they are close yet a bit more fashionable.  Chances are you will not wear them with a pretty dress or Daisy Dukes but they will give you that edgy, rustic look without making you look like a cowgirl.  These can go over your scrunched jeans – I’m not crazy about these with skinny jeans – adding a loose, floral button-up and a worn leather braided belt.
