So, a little bit ago I saw this thing about denim diapers cropping up on Facebook and whatnot. I don’t tend to be drawn towards baby-centered things, but I finally checked it out.

It seems that Huggies has introduced a “jeans diaper,” which is just what it sounds like–diapers that look like jeans. Which obviously every baby needs. They’re limited edition, although according to an article on AOL, they’ve already launched in 20 different countries around the world.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I guess there’s no reason why diapers have to be plain and white. Cloth diapers like FuzziBunz come in different colors (which makes sense, they’re reusable). But yet something seems ridiculous about this idea, which is why, I imagine, little sniggers about it have been cropping up all over the internet.

What’s more interesting is the commercial for them. I honestly wasn’t sure it wasn’t a joke commercial the first time I saw it. It’s got a baby strutting around in the diaper in question with full grown adults being impressed left and right with his fashion, all the while a voice over in a strange, almost Triumph-the-insult-comic-dog accent says things like,”When it’s a number two, I look like number one.”

Now, I’m not saying that the commercial isn’t funny. It is. It’s really funny. I just couldn’t believe it was real. Baby product commercials are usually pretty straight forward, you know, wholesome cute giggling baby boring. Not, “I poo in blue!” I guess what I have to say is, I don’t know about the diapers, but if this is the direction their ad campaign is moving in, then Yes, Yes, Yes.
