If you’ve already got your carefully shabby plaid shirt and mournful expression all picked out and ready to go stand in line for “Twilight: Eclipse” this evening, you’re not alone.  Lines of excited little girls of all ages started forming six and seven hours before the movie officially hit screens at midnight last night.  We even spotted a few put-upon looking boyfriends and at least one dad who deserves several gold stars for the crowd of burbling teenage girls he was shepherding through the “Twilight Experience” at the Grove in Los Angeles.

If you’re busy rolling your eyes and pretending you don’t want to see the latest in the soap-tastic vampire series, check out the films 67% fresh rating from “Top Critics” on RottenTomatoes.com and think again.  This one seems like it may be a genuinely entertaining movie in its own right.  Even A.O. Scott of the New York Times has deemed it less than horrifying, which is a pretty big step forward for this series.  For the most part, the critics seem to agree that this installment benefits from director David Slade’s ability to not take the story too seriously.  No matter what you think of them, these movies are shaping the imagination of a generation – it’s never a bad idea to be clued into a meme this powerful.
