Summer is when the sun should shine, not your face. Sweatproof your look with these tips.
- Don’t over-wash, and don’t over-exfoliate either. It’s tempting to wash your face more often when the weather is hot and sticky but too much soap and water strips natural oils and can cause a ‘rebound’ of oil as sebaceous glands kick into overdrive to make up for the loss. Stick to your usual routine, which for most means deep-cleansing twice a day with quick touch ups using a moisturizing toner.
- Ease up on the moisturizer. Switch to a lighter moisturizer in the summer because the air is less drying and the elements less stripping.
- Wear the right makeup. You adjust your foundation’s shade for the summer months and you should consider switching the formula too. An oil-free, non-drying one will keep you smooth and shine-free the longest.
- Consider adding a primer. If you’re looking for an extra ‘stay in place boost’ for your makeup apply a primer under your foundation. Again, go for oil-free and non-drying for the best results.
- Keep blotting papers handy to touch up your look without messing up your look. Use them to dab away the midday signs of oil and sweat that might creep up.
