Bands aren’t just for boys. But, when you’re the only girl in a band of boys, all eyes are on you! And rightfully so. This year at Bonnaroo, there was no shortage of girl musicians holding their own (both musically and style-wise) alongside their boy bandmates. Here are some of the well-dressed frontwomen who killed it at Bonnaroo.
Zooey Deschanel of She & Him: This show was packed. The crowd seemed evenly divided between fans of M. Ward and fans of Zooey, all lovers of the duo’s music. I think a lot of people (myself included) showed up to see what the singer/actress would be wearing. And she didn’t disappoint. Wearing an adorable cream lace dress with black sash and black tights, Zooey bopped through original songs such as “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?” and “Sentimental Heart.” The duo closed the set with the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song “I Put a Spell on You.”

Beth Ditto of the Gossip: All black. Thick eyeliner. A wrist full of bangles. Attitude to spare. That pretty much sums up Beth Ditto of the Gossip at Bonnaroo. She is loved because she is not sugary or adorable. And because she can successfully cover Tina Turner’s classic hit “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”

Alison Mosshart of the Dead Weather: Two words can describe Alison Mosshart: Rock Star. Her bandmate, Jack White, needed only one: “Hellcat.” Touche, Jack. Dressed all in black but for a leopard-print jacket and gold boots, the raven-haired singer did nothing to disprove the characterization.
Jade Castrinos of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes: There are few words that can accurately describe Jade’s amazing spirit. You’d just have to watch her perform live to understand. She fits right in with her rag-tag tribe of bandmates and stands out all at the same time with her wardrobe of vintage frocks and accessories. At Bonnaroo she wore a white dress and tambourine. (The similarly-vintage clad accordian player, and second girl in the group, Nora Kirkpatrick, did not perform with the band at Bonnaroo.)

These ladies really sent the stage when it comes to style.
